“Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” Proverbs 3:5-6
Why is trusting in God so hard?
Why do we think we are better equipped than the Almighty God to handle those problems that are out of our control?
Why is it so hard to “let go and let God?”
I am sure some of you have mastered this, but the fumbling Christian girl is just now figuring this out.
I have always (seriously, as long as I can remember) stressed and agonized over problems that were out of my control. I have stressed and agonized over things that MIGHT happen.
Have you ever been there? Replaying the worst-case scenario over and over in your head? And think about it, 99.9% of the time, that horrible worst-case scenario you kept replaying in your head never even happened.
Let me tell you my friends, worrying and stressing like this really gets you wound up, it isolates you, and makes you grumpy and irritable.
What a waste of energy and think about all the happiness you are robbing yourself of. We were not meant to do this. God did not create us to be anxious, worried, nervous, and stressed-out people. He wants us to trust in Him. Rely on Him. Go to Him and hand those worries right over to Him and leave them with Him and not take them back.
If you find yourself having trouble laying your worries down at the Cross, here are 12 Bible verses that I hope help you to “let go and let God.”
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your request to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
“You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you. Trust in the LORD forever, for the LORD, the LORD himself, is the Rock eternal.”
“The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and he helps me.”
“They will have no fear of bad news; their hearts are steadfast, trusting in the LORD.”
“Commit your way to the LORD; trust in him and he will do this: He will make your righteous reward shine like the dawn, your vindication like the noonday sun.”
“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”
“Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”
“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”
“Surely God is my salvation; I will trust and not be afraid.”
“Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to your life?”
“Cast your cares on the LORD and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous be shaken.”
Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”
These are good verses to memorize and to keep on your heart. The next time you find yourself anxious and worrying, recite one of these verses and remember who you are. You are a child of the Most High God. Your Father is there waiting for you to come to Him with your troubles.
